Bond Park is seeking qualified applicants with an interest in working outside in a park setting to assist with daily operation of the Boathouse serving as Cashiers and Lakefront staff. We need individuals at least 18 years of age that are available March through November for lakefront operations, rule enforcement and public relations. The candidates we are seeking must be available to work up to 20 hours on weekends and on varying work shifts as needed throughout the week, including holidays. Primary work will take place on weekends in April through November with additional weekday shifts available in June, July & August. Applicants should haveexcellent interpersonal skills.
Expected training days are Saturday March14thand Saturday March21st.
Specific Duties of Boathouse Lakefront Staff
Opens/closes and secures boathouse daily;
Performs daily safety inspections of boat dock and boating equipment;
Unlocks, cleans and prepares boats for rental operations;
Assists patrons on/off boats and provides a positive boat rental experience to customers;
Performs light maintenance and general cleaning of boats, equipment, beach and dock area;
Provides routine information on rules and regulations, departmental policies, procedures and services;
May cover Boathouse Cashier Duties;
Secondary Duties of all Boathouse Staff
Supports park operation including events, programs, handling recycling and trash removal, filling bird feeder tubes, stocking trail and informational brochures, shelter preparation,
and park security;
Follows up with supervisor with oral and written reports;
Enforces Town of Cary policies and park rules and regulations;
Performs administrative tasks as needed;
Performs routine clerical and public contact work involving processing customer inquiries, obtaining and dispensing accurate information concerning park and departmental programs;
Performs other job-related tasks as required.
General knowledge of park, facility or outdoor center operations; ability to complete assignments accurately and prior to the established deadline; skill in the operation of common office equipment; general knowledge of cash collection procedures; ability to meet the public effectively; ability to communicate effectively; ability to deal with the public in a firm but tactful manner; ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships with others; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to acquire knowledge of policies, procedures and services of the center and preserve, division and department; ability to maintain filing systems.
Some knowledge of boating and water safety, ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, some experience with retail sales Ability to work independently on assigned projects and programs; good time management skills; the ability to take the initiative when necessary; ability to respond calmly to an emergency situation.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and general customer service and public contact experience.
Requires physical ability to move about the park on rough terrain, and lift moderately heavy items, such as trash bags, marine batteries, canoes and related equipment and supplies.
Prefer CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain with employer supplied training.
Prefers proficiency with personal computers and Windows based software.
Prefers experience with waterfront and/or boating programs.
Prefers experience with retail sales and money handling.
Requires possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving history.
Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.
