Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Ortho Device Coordinator. In this role, the successful candidate The position provides training, logistics and OR coverage on all Altus Spine surgery systems. The candidate will become a recognized as the first point of contact on the functionality and clinical use of all Altus Spine surgery systems. They will train OR and Sterile Processing Department staff on proper use, cleaning, configuration and maintenance of the specific surgical equipment, and act as the subject expert for the order and restock equipment, inspect and coordinate processing of the equipment through proper hospital departments to ensure that needed surgical systems are available. The position will collaborate with a diverse group of important internal contacts to coordinate, plan and prioritize surgical set logistics. Job Responsibilities: 1. Ability to learn and maintain a high level of technical information as it relates to surgery and procedures 2. Attend surgeries daily in the operating room (OR) to observe, interact and answer questions for OR staff on surgical techniques for Altus Spine products 3. Develop and maintain customer relationships 4. Keep customers informed of existing product features/benefits, new products and 5. Ensure account satisfaction through appropriate product distribution, including the maintenance of inventory levels, product planning for weekly surgical schedule and on-call availability for product supply and returns 6. Maintain compliance with all NYULMC and policies and procedures 7. Keep all loaner equipment in proper working condition 8. Perform physical inventory of implant and instrument kits as required by logistics 9. Assist surgeon and/or surgical team at sterile field by having available sterile instrument and equipment for specific surgical procedure; reviews surgeons preference card in advance, for proper case setup. 10. Acts as a liaison with other departments and outside agencies, Handles confidential and non-routine information and explains policies when necessary. 11. Contact potential users to identify orthopedic equipment needs, approval process and gatekeepers 12. Pursue hospital approvals and approval updates for new product offerings, in relation to Altus Spine 13. Assumes role of expert in the configuration, availability and use of all Altus surgical systems 14. Complete paperwork to record the use of inventory during surgical procedures 15. Participate in NYULMC training programs including, but not limited to: safety orientation, overview of orthopedics, operating room protocol, Altus Spine specific product knowledge and surgical procedures, field training and standard policies and procedures. 16. Must be available 24/7 for case coverage for all staff surgeons 17. Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique an ability to oversee its maintenance by all members of surgical team. 18. Demonstrates knowledge of specific Operating Room and general hospital policies and procedures and legal aspects which affect Orthopedic Device Coordinator role 19. Demonstrates an ability to perform in an accurate and precise manner in crisis and emergency situations 20. Helps to ensure a quiet, safe and efficient environment in the Operating Room Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a BS Degree required , or equivalent experience. 3 years Medical device experience. 3-5 years of Operating Room experience. Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. Sense of urgency with commitment to meet deadlines. Willing and capable of lifting or pushing packages (surgical instruments and implants). Ability to work in a dynamic business with frequent assignment changes. Strong work ethic with flexibility around periodically heavy work days. Transport inventory on an on-call basis which may require early mornings and/or late evenings.
