Within Motivate LLC, the Service Delivery Department is responsible for ensuring that customers can find available bikes that they can check-out to start their trip and available docks for which they can return their bikes to end their trips. We continue to expand our redistribution efforts through innovative non-motorized operations to manage the enormous demand for our system.
As a Station Valet Attendant, you will take part in these innovative non-motorized operations and improve the usability of the Citi Bike systems. You will not only play an essential role for Citi Bike operations, but also be our customers knight-in-shining armor helping them to check-out a bike to begin a trip, find an available dock to end their trip and provide personal greeting for customers enjoying the Citi Bike experience. Station Valets will be positioned at key high-demand areas, initially, across Manhattan. You will also have the opportunity to act as the face of Citi Bike, helping customers when issues arise and answering questions when necessary.
Station Valet schedules are typically split into 4-hour blocks and hours may flex based on customer demand.
Duties, Responsibilities, And Essential Functions:

Key Aspects of Position:
Follow safe work practices to create and maintain a safe working environment.
Work with all Citi Bike employees, including drivers and bike train operators, under the guidance of a Field Coordinator to ensure that bikes, docks and station equipment are clean, clear and easily accessible to customers and employees.
Manage assigned station to ensure customers can access bikes to begin a ride, and dock their bikes when completing a ride.
Dock / undock stations with bikes; manage inventory and provide counts to dispatch or Citi Bike leadership when requested.
Load / unload vehicles with bikes; ensure bikes are secured in appropriate approved locations.
Evaluate bike conditions and escalate issues, as needed.
Inspect station, docks and individual bikes for safety, operability, and cleanliness; troubleshoot station problems, when necessary.
Activate or close bikes stations that are operational during rush hours.
Snow removal and salt pre-treating around stations or Citi Bike facilities (equipment such as snow blowers, shovels, and ice packs will be provided, along with training on safe use of equipment).
Ensure station, dock, kiosk and bike presentation standards are maintained. This includes but is not limited to ensuring the work area and customer accessible items and areas are clean, presentable and free of trash/rubbish.
Other duties as assigned and determined by Citi Bike leadership.
Required Skills and Experience:
Must have a minimum of 1 year work experience in customer service.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds; be able to stoop, bend, walk and stand for long periods of time.
Must be able to work outdoors year-round and in all weather conditions.
Willingness and comfort with using the Citi Bike systems; ability to comfortably navigate Manhattan and Brooklyn on a Citi Bike in all weather conditions.
Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors verbally and in writing.
Willingness and ability to work non-traditional hours and a split schedule. Station Valets, as part of this role, are responsible for typically working Monday through Friday during the morning and early evening or late evening shifts.
Must own and be able to use a GPS-enabled smartphone with an active data plan. Smartphone must be capable of adding new AndroidOS or iOS applications or must be capable of accessing the internet through a mobile web browser. Data plan must be available for completing remote bike count forms, or remotely clocking or clocking out via the company s time & attendance software.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Knowledge of New York City streets and geography (bonus points if you're a pro at riding on NYC streets on a bike).
Enthusiastic, all-hands-on-deck attitude; you love the idea of making Citi Bike work for hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers and visitors!
