Water Park Operations Assistant Manager

Position Summary: Manages the daily operations of the Water Park or Hotel Pools which include Permanent Amusement Rides, Aquatic Play Structures, and Pools. Supervises, monitors, and evaluates the work performance of Lifeguards. Works closely with Rides Maintenance, Safety, Facilities, Human Resources, and Marketing (film shoots, special functions). Oversees the Safety, Guest Service and Cleanliness of the Water Park & Hotel Pool areas to ensure safety and quality specifications are met. Ensures that LEGOLAND California s overall safety and presentation is to the highest quality standards in the industry. This position will administer first aid and CPR as needed, maintain records, and perform other duties as assigned.

Scope and Responsibilities:

1. Maintains an active STARGUARD ELITE Instructor certification, or the ability to obtain one. Holds the lifeguard team to the safety standards as defined by STARGUARD ELITE (certification agreements and program outlines), and LEGOLAND California Resort.

2. Actively participates in the planning and execution of Lifeguard Courses, In-Service training, and Attractions training.

3. Frequently participates in Duty Manager shifts including Hotel Pools Duty Manager, and Water Park Duty Manager.

4. Leads by example to ensure MCs meet or exceed the Guest Service Core standards. Performs necessary follow-up for MCs who are not demonstrating the Guest Service Core.

5. Ensures that Department Standards (safety, service, presentation, efficiency) are maintained through MC monitoring, auditing, training and recertification.

6. Trained and certified to operate all attractions in their designated section of the Water Park or Hotel Pools. Enforces safety procedures and standards in the Water Park Standard Operating Procedures manuals (SOPs).

7. Audits, recognizes and coaches MCs as needed to ensure Purpose and Role are fulfilled consistently.

8. Oversees daily operation of specified section of the Water Park or Hotel Pools. Prepares rides and attractions for opening by completing Maintenance to Operations hand-over process, ensuring staffing levels, overseeing completion of opening safety checklists, and completing prompt review and sign-off of opening safety checklists.

9. Utilizes the Jolt online system to effectively complete all training records in compliance with department policies.

10. Maintains high visibility in the Park and is prepared with all Service Recovery tools, such as Fix-It Tickets, Priority Access Passes, and Assisted Access Passes.

11. Carries a pan and broom when possible while walking the park to assist with upholding cleanliness standards.

12. Monitors cleanliness of pathways and restrooms to ensure guest satisfaction.

13. Responsible for daily scheduling breaks and meal periods.

14. Responsible for performance management, writing and issuing performance reviews and corrective actions, holding MC development meetings, and observing and providing feedback on policy compliance.

15. Maintains MC engagement through various MC recognition programs.

16. Supports their Manager and assists in the communication of all relevant department and company

information and initiatives.

17. Ensures communication with the Central Planning Team is maintained to provide the necessary information to the team.

18. Engages in monitoring and meeting department budget goals including labor and equipment.

19. Supports the resort in miscellaneous tasks/events when possible (Brick-Or-Treat, cross-training opportunities, etc.)

Background and Experience:

Prior experience as a Lifeguard Instructor is strongly preferred. Experience in a theme park as a trainer or higher is a plus. Demonstrated leadership experience and effective verbal and written communication skills required. Requires mechanical aptitude and ability to ensure plans, specifications, safety and quality standards are met. Strong guest service, interpersonal and supervisory skills are required. Experience in ensuring guest safety through procedures, programs and instilling a safety culture is critical. Exhibits both the ability to work as a team member as well as the ability to work independently and execute projects within job scope. Exhibits patience, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment.

Education:

Minimum high school diploma. Basic computer skills with a general understanding of MS Office.

Other Requirements:

Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays to support park operations.

Must have valid driver s license, safe driving record, and be willing to utilize own vehicle for business purposes.

Must have or be able to acquire the following certifications and training:

- STARGUARD ELITE Instructor Certified (Lifeguarding, First Aid, AED, Emergency Oxygen)
