JOB OVERVIEW The Director of Sales & Catering is responsible for growing the businesses for Hotel. Responsibilities include planning and executing proactive sales strategies and developing relationships which will lead to sustainable revenue growth and have positive impact on the hotels' banquet and meeting spaces.. REPORTS TO Property General Manager. SUPERVISES Sales & Catering Department Staff. KEY RELATIONSHIPS COO, Regional Director of Operations Corporate Director of Revenue Management, Director of eCommerce and Marketing. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS. Assists with preparation and analysis of annual Sales & Catering budgets to achieve revenue targets. Responsible for monitoring Group Sales budget.. Works in tandem with the Director of Revenue Management on monthly, quarterly and annual group rooms forecasting and yield management practices to maximize rate and occupancy within varying supply and demand conditions.. Knowledgeable of competitive set and recommends sales/pricing strategies, services and product improvements to stay competitive.. Interviews, selects, schedules, trains, and conducts performance evaluations for Sales Associates, ensuring they perform in accordance with established hotel standards and consistent with company core values. Instills a guest service attitude in all associates. Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to Sales staff.. Establishes team and individual booking and consumption goals for the hotels' Sales Departments. Establishes a sense of urgency with the teams to understand and achieve the needs of the hotels.. Takes a lead role in assisting, coaching, training, motivating and counseling all Sales Associates. Continually assess strengths and challenges of the Sales Associates.. Reviews TripAdvisor, competitive shopping reports and other resources to maintain an awareness of the hotels' market position. Stays abreast of industry and competitive trends and makes recommendations of changes which would impact operations and/or demand.. Manages customer relationships by responding to inquiries, making prospecting calls, meeting with and entertaining new and existing clients,. conducting property tours, promoting facilities and services, and drafting contracts.. Researches and solicits new business over the telephone, in person or through exhibits at trade shows. Maintains effective communication. with established clientele.. Prepares information for, meets with and entertains clients as deemed appropriate to obtaining potential business from that account. Develops and maintains professional relationships with clients with the goal of expanding.. Responsible for all contract management, tracking signed contracts, securing deposits and final client payments for corporate sales.. Maintains an active role in local community and professional associations.. Establishes strong relationships with local DMC's and Corporate Event/Meeting Planners.. Establishes strong relationships with local Visitor and Convention Bureaus and Chamber of Commerce.. Establishes strong relationships with area Marriott Account Managers and sister hotels.. Participates in local Marriott Business Council.. Serves as a liaison between the client and the operating departments to ensure a successful meeting/event and to generate repeat business.. Assists all department heads in establishing quality product standards and service levels that establish the. properties as 4-star competitors.. Assists in servicing accounts including BEO's and Group Resumes when necessary. Participates in weekly BEO meetings with Sales Team and Banquet. Team.. Handles account details ensuring all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented.. Ensures that accurate and thorough notes/traces of accounts are maintained. Maintain integrity and updating of database information.. Oversees administration of SFAWeb CI/TY, ensuring proper use and input of all group data. Executes and distributes weekly PACE, Sales Activities and Lost Business Reporting, and any other reporting deemed important to ensure all opportunities are maximized.. Maintains passing score on DQI and Success Strategy components.. Responsible for overseeing all aspects of guestroom and banquet billing for each group/event from building of PM Account to final receipt sent to client.. QUALIFICATIONS. Essential:. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Hotel Management and/or Marketing. Advanced ability to comprehend and speak English to understand and respond to information and address advanced guest requests required both verbally and in writing.. Must be able to lead, motivate and relate to others.. Must be customer-service oriented and have excellent hospitality skills.. Ability to assess/evaluate employees' performance.. Knowledge of revenue management strategies.. Knowledge of hotel and competitive market.. Ability to convert vision into specific and tangible actions to benefit the hotel and banquet space.. Must be well-groomed, meet the dress code requirements and be able to deal with associates and guests courteously and efficiently.. Must possess clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.. Candidates may be called upon to work extended workweeks, including weekends or holidays, to accommodate a client's needs as well as any functions they are overseeing.. Experience:. Requires a minimum of 5-7 year(s) of hotel sales experience.. Must have experience at properties of similar size and quality, most notably four star/four diamond or five star/five diamond. While performing the duties of this job, the Director of Sales & Catering is regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; talk and hear. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events. Generally works in an office setting with minimal adverse exposure to environmental hazards.
